Clove essential oils are extracted from Eugenia caryophyllata (Syzygium aromaticum, Eugenia aromatica, E. caryophyllus) from the Myrtaceae family. Clove oil is extracted from the leaves, stem and buds. However, only the clove bud oil is used in aromatherapy, since it contains less eugenol.
